The Council of Europe’s newly established expert committee is composed of 13 members—seven Member State representatives and six independent experts. Its mandate is to provide guidance “on countering the spread of online mis- and disinformation through fact-checking and platform design solutions in a human rights compliant manner”.

Ronan Fahy, DTDM researcher, has been appointed to the MSI-INF Committee as an independent expert. “It’s a privilege to be a member of the Committee, and I’m very much looking forward to contributing to the Committee’s important work,” he says.

The Committee will convene for the first time on 15 and 16 March to discuss its purpose and plans. View the agenda for the meeting here.
